Email Change

In order to make email changes quicker and more convenient for players, it is possible to change the email address associated with the account via website. This article guides players through the process.

1. How to change your email 

To change your email as web launcher players, please log into your account here. If you are a Steam player, please open the ESC menu and go to the Community tab -> Redeem to find your account page:

In your account info, you will see the following button next to your email:

Clicking the button will bring up the email change form:

For security reasons, the email change function on the account page has a cooldown of 30 days. Please keep in mind that having 2-factor authentication active on your account is a requirement to change your email if you play via the web launcher.

After the change, you will get a confirmation email to your new email address. Please click the link in the email within 1 hour or the change will not go through.

2. How to add 2FA to your account

As a web launcher player, you will need to add 2FA to your account before changing your email. To do so, please visit the website here

After confirming the activation, you will receive an email to your registered email address. Click the link, download the app and enter the code to activate 2FA on your account. 

Please note down the backup codes and store them safely! If you lose access to the Authenticator (e.g. by your phone breaking, being stolen, etc.) you will need those codes to access your account and remove 2FA manually.

3. FAQ

Q: The confirmation email does not arrive

A: Please make sure that the address does not contain any spelling mistakes. Do check your spam filter and whitelist the email no-reply@blackdesertonline.com. Request a new activation email afterwards.

Q: I get a pop-up that I have to add 2FA to my account

A: For security reasons, the email address for website players can only be changed after 2-factor authentication has been activated.

Q: Can I deactivate 2FA after changing my email?

A: 2FA is a great way to keep your account safe from hackers of all kinds, so we do not recommend removing 2FA from your account. However, you may remove 2FA here.

Q: My 2FA codes don't work correctly

A: If your codes are not being recognized, please make sure that your mobile's time and timezone are set to automatic (get via internet). If it's already set to automatic, turn the option off and on again. If the problem persists, use the Google Authenticator's Sync function - this is found in the settings of Android devices only.

Q: It says my email is from a "prohibited domain"

A: Some domains like providers of temporary email addresses cannot be used for an email change. Please choose another provider.

Q: I don't have access to my old email address and I hadn't activated 2FA

If you don't have access to your old email address, please contact customer support to receive further instructions.
