System Requirements

The first thing to check when experiencing lag is to check if your computer meets the minimum requirements.

Minimum system requirements to play Black Desert Online:

  • 32 bit Windows 7 or 8
  • Intel Core i3-530 2.9GHz
  • 4gb RAM
  • GTS 250 / GeForce 9800 GTX / Radeon HD 6770
  • 1280x720 Resolution

Recommended system requirements to play Black Desert Online:

  • 64 bit Windows 7 or 8
  • Intel Core i5-650 3.2GHz
  • 8gb RAM
  • GTX 670 / Radeon HD 7970 / R9 280X
  • 1920x1080 Resolution

 

Video Settings

If your computer just barely meets the minimum requirements and you are experiencing lag, then it is possible that your game settings are listed too high.  You can change this in-game by going to the “Screen” tab in the options menu.

If your computer exceeds the minimum requirements, check to make sure that your video drivers are up to date.  To update your drives go to the manufacturer’s website of your video card and look for your model in the driver section. Background Programs

It is also possible that background programs on your computer are causing the lag or disconnecting issue. Close any non-essential programs and see if your problem is resolved.

 

Wifi Connection

Using a Wifi connection can result in latency issues when playing Black Desert, if you are able to switch to a wired connection.

If you are already connected to a modem them it is possible that you need to update your modem’s firmware, go to the manufacturer’s website for your modem and check for updates.

If you have a hybrid modem/router (one provided to you by your Internet Service Provider) then you may need to contact them for instructions on how to update your modem.

 

Power Cycle Modem

If you are still experiencing problems after updating your modem, it may be necessary to power cycle your modem. Follow these steps in order to do this:

  1. Turn off your computer completely.
  2. If you have a router, remove the power cable then wait thirty seconds.
  3. Remove the modem power cable.
  4. Wait thirty seconds.
  5. Plug your modem back in.
  6. Plug your router back in.
  7. Turn your computer back on and proceed to playing Black Desert to see if your issue has been resolved.
